Kids love puppets.
Puppets talk, walk, dance, sing, do the jig and whisper in your ear.
All pre-instrumental activities begin with learning which hand is right and which hand is left.
We may presume all children know this by the age of 5 but many struggle with the concept well in to their primary school years.
The Basic Hand Puppet template helps kids to sort out their right and left hands.
You can leave your puppet as plain or decorated as you like.
Animals are a favourite with kids.
Let them decorate their own puppets with fabric paint, textas, ribbons or whatever craft items you have at home.
A quick internet search will give you plenty of ideas or you can use some of the ones shown below.
The next step is to reduce the size of the original hand pattern to fit your child’s individual fingers. Make 10 finger puppets out of your favourite craft material and let your child decorate…use the animal templates above if you wish to.
