Heather specialises in relaxed adult piano lessons

Welcome to relaxed, easy going, mindful lessons with no pressure to perform.

Your first lesson is always FREE and only pay for the lessons you attend.

Heather has taught piano to all ages for many decades, but particularly enjoys teaching adults.

“Teachers can do much to create a temporary state of Relaxed Alertness by helping students experience a momentary sense of success, but ultimately, we are after something more. The ultimate goal must be to help students be in a state of Relaxed Alertness as a way of life.”

Each piano lesson is as important as the end goal of learning to play.

The 30 or 60 minutes you spend each week in lesson time is beneficial to your well being and self confidence.

You will always receive support that inspires confidence and encourages you to develop your skill at your own pace.

Heather’s priority is to meet you at your ability level and to make you feel good about each and every small achievement along the way. You will have self assurance and a belief in your ability to succeed.

As a result you will feel uplifted and happy at Music Matters' piano lessons. This is Heather’s guarantee to you.

Mindful Music Lessons means more time learning. More fun, more value, more retention of information.

Testimonials

  • "My three sons take music lessons with Heather for guitar and piano. Daniel was able to learn The Pink Panther theme in his first year of lessons. Heather listens to what the boys want to do in class while encouraging them to reach their potential. She has a unique way of keeping the children motivated and engaged."

  • "I have known Heather Nel, for approximately 12 months, during which time she has taught music to both my children. Heather is a kind, caring and understanding teacher who goes out of her way to firstly find a connection and then implement a program that is suited to the individual. Heather possesses a tremendous knowledge in music and this translates so easily into practical application. I truly believe that she has a great talent and my children enjoy the classes."

  • "Heston has been learning the piano with Heather at Music Matters for over 12 months. We have been amazed at how quickly he has adapted to the "Music for Little Mozarts" program. He is excited to complete the Work Book theory pages and loves learning to play the different songs from the Music Lesson Books. Heston loves Heather's lessons and comes home inspired and wants to teach us what he has learnt! I feel confident that the Music for Little Mozarts has enhanced his music lessons at school and his overall love for music."

    Nicole, mother of student

  • "I am so glad I enrolled my daughter, Angelique, in piano lessons with Music Matters. From the very first lesson she has been engaged, focussed and busy. Angelique enjoys her practise at home and I often sit in for the lessons which I find interesting. The experience and patience Heather brings to lessons make such a wonderful difference in Angelique’s confidence to learn."

Your Teacher - Heather Nel

One of my hobbies as my children are growing up is learning new instruments. I can do it at home and it is lots of fun. I make sure I am on track by sitting for AMEB exams in flute and clarinet. My children enjoy listening to and playing the instruments and I start a collection of percussion instruments so we can all play along together.
